A shock to the solar system
How was our Solar System created? Where did it come from? Why was it created? Well all those HUGE questions that were rolling around my head were answered by an article that I read. Here are my thoughts about it and the summary! Enjoy! :)We weren’t alive when the solar system formed. Although we have no real evidence we predict that the whole thing started with one big blast. “A nearby supernova, or explosion of a giant star, may have provided the oomph that jump-started the formation of the sun and planets.” Is what Stephan Ornes mentions in his article. Scientists predict that more than 4.5 billion years ago, there was no sun, no asteroids, no planets, and no arguments about Pluto. If we were to go back in time and see it for ourselves we would find a large cloud of cold gas and dust. Something happened that caused all those particles to join together into one huge star and lots of tinny rocks. That something might have been a pretty big star about 15 light years away which exploded. “In this case, scientists used a computer model to test the idea that a nearby supernova triggered the cloud to turn into a star and planets.” In the article Stephan writes, “A supernova sends a wave of energy, called a shock wave, racing through space faster than 6,000 miles per second. It sweeps up what’s left of the star’s mass and blows it away. This shock wave differs from a gently rolling water wave; it’s more like a tsunami, a giant wall of energy and matter that pummels anything in its way. In the computer model by Gritschneder and his colleagues, the energy from a shock wave could have started collapsing the cold cloud of dust and gas.” Does this mean that we do have real evidence of our so called theory? Is it true? There is only one way to find out. Get more evidence, put it together and see what the future brings out for us!
Is this what it looked like????
Hope you learned something new!
